Surface Transformations 2014-17

This is an ongoing investigation into how the structure and appearance of a surface can change when it is engraved with the laser. For example, translucent papers, such as tracing paper, and transclear paper becomes opaque when it is engraved. Melinex gleams like silver. The colourchange on some papers, such as Abaca paper can vary according to the size or coating used. When sized with cellulose it produces a burn mark which is more pronounced than unsized tissue. Kozo seems to resist – leaving a delicate cream mark.   Paper, coated for inkjet printing leaves a white mark.
