Zig was conceived as a game. When working out a design for a hanging, I work first on the full size image, then split it into sections, (in order to allow it to fold). I also often worked beforehand on a small scale – before working the design up. The design evolved into ‘Zig Zag hanging of 2007. Sometimes the smaller pieces are made into panels; this particular piece became a ‘book game’. When split into sections, pieces can be shuffled, then arranged in different ways.
